The Wages of Tax Reform Are Going to America’s Workers

In the The Wall Street Journal, Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Kevin Hassett explains that in a dynamic economy, what’s good for businesses is good for their employees, too. He cites research from two economists—both of whom served in the Obama Administration—showing that “more-profitable employers pay higher wages.”

In USA Today, Carolyn McAtee Cerbin writes that “President Trump and Melania Trump released statements Tuesday night praising former first lady Barbara Bush as ‘an advocate of the American family.’” In his statement, the President said that he and the First Lady “join the Nation in celebrating the life of Barbara Bush.”

Linda McMahon, head of the Small Business Administration under President Trump, writes in Harrisburg’s The Patriot-News that small business optimism is at an all-time high because of tax cuts. Administrator McMahon explains that “as a result of their confidence in our economy, small business owners are creating jobs.”

In the Miami Herald, Vice President Mike Pence writes about his trip last week to represent the United States at the Eighth Summit of the Americas in Peru. “My message there was simple: Now is the time for the nations of the Western Hemisphere to realize our destiny and truly become a ‘Hemisphere of Freedom.’” Echoing President Donald J. Trump’s remarks last year in Miami, the Vice President adds that America “wins when the people of each country in our region ‘can live out their own dreams’ in freedom.”
