' An earthquake a day keeps the frackers away.' Well, not under a Conservative government. In fact, in the days since fracking restarted in Lancashire, the region has been hit by no less than ten earthquakes. Despite this, the government has two consultations running until 23:45 October 25, 2018, which aim to fast-track fracking across England. Ministers plans set out to undermine local democracy and ride roughshod over local residents in the pursuit of environmentally-destructive fracking. It's shameful enough that the Tories have already done this in places like Lancashire. The government has completely abandoned the pretence that it is committed to localism. Do not despair though. There is a huge opposition to the frighteningly anti-democratic plans, including from Tory councillors and MPs. We must now harness that opposition and push the government to scrap these proposals immediately. I have produced a briefing that aims to help YOU respond to the consultations and outlines the ways in which YOU can lobby your local representatives. Together we can win this battle. You can find out more and download the briefing here. You can find my full responses here.Responses must be submitted before 23:45 on Thursday, 25 October.
