President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump kicked off the 140th White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday “with a ‘ready,’ ‘set’ and the blow of a whistle,” Darlene Superville writes for The Associated Press. The egg roll was a true “family affair” for the President, with most of his five children and nine grandchildren in attendance on the White House’s South Lawn.

The Washington Examiner reports that “President Trump's approval rate among likely U.S. voters hit 50 percent on Monday, which puts him higher than former President Barack Obama's score at the same point into his first term, according to a new poll.” Anna Giaritelli writes that “one-third of all respondents ‘strongly approve’ of the Republican leader's job,” according to Rasmussen Reports.

In the New Hampshire Union Leader, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar writes that President Trump is providing the kind of bold leadership needed to combat the opioid crisis. Sec. Azar explains that “we saw the President’s determination when he visited New Hampshire to discuss the crisis among people deeply harmed by it.”

In The Hill, Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says that “John Bolton will be a strong national security adviser,” in part because his experience handling government bureaucracies “has fully prepared him to be at the center of American national security decision-making.” Gingrich adds that Democrats opposed Bolton in the past because they found him to be too conservative, too smart, and too effective.
