The battle for power in poll-bound Karnataka in its final phase has gained momentum as both the Congress and the BJP are leaving no stones unturned to woo the voters ahead of the May 12 polls. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing three rallies during the course of the day, party chief Amit Shah has four roadshows planned in the state.
Meanwhile, Congress veteran Sonia Gandhi will be joining the campaign trail after a gap of two years. While Sonia Gandhi will be addressing a rally at Bijapur, party president Rahul Gandhi will steer the Congress’ campaign in Tumkur district.
On Monday, PM Modi addressed the Karnataka BJP’s Yuva Morcha workers via the Narendra Modi (NaMo) app. He also hit out at the Opposition for its protests against the 12-digit unique identification system, Aadhaar, and their allegations over tampering of electronic voting machines. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh also launched an attack on the NDA’s economic policies, accusing Centre of “peddling conspiracy theories” instead of adopting “prompt corrective actions”.
