President Trump’s Tax Cuts Have Strengthened U.S. Economy

In the Tampa Bay Times, Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin writes that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is fulfilling President Donald J. Trump’s “critical goals of allowing people to keep more of what they earn and improving the business environment.” He adds that it will make America’s tax code fairer and simpler.

“Substantial economic progress and greater prosperity are already being achieved, which will mean more career opportunities, more prosperity, and a safe and secure future for Americans.”

The Boston Herald Editorial Board applauds First Lady Melania Trump for “her efforts to understand the situation on the border and use her position to improve it. She is a smart and accomplished woman and has the unique circumstance of being an immigrant herself.”
------------
In the Washington Examiner, Paul Bedard reports that “a majority of immigrants seeking asylum in the United States by claiming ‘credible fear’ back home do not actually file for it once they are released into the country,” according to Justice Department data. Bedard notes that new immigrants “gamed” the system so much during the Obama Administration that there has been a 1,350 percent increase in deportation orders for “sham asylum claims.”

“Businesses are more confident and investing again, consumers are confident and spending again, and the U.S economy is poised for its first 3 percent growth year since 2005,” University of Maryland economist Peter Morici writes in Fox News.“America is back thanks to President Trump.”
