However, creating those jobs requires trillions of dollars of investment in everything from energy and infrastructure projects to health care, tourism, and manufacturing businesses, which governments and many domestic capital markets are not equipped to provide. Banks and institutional investors manage roughly $280 trillion, while developing economies receive only a small share of global investment, largely due to the perceived risks and lack of a standardized asset class that institutional investors feel comfortable investing in.
