Mainstream Media vs. Main Street USA

In RealClearPolitics, Steve Cortes tells a tale of two Americas: “the concerns of Mainstream Media vs. those of Main Street USA.”
Those worlds couldn’t be more different. “Far from New York newsrooms and the Georgetown salons of Washington lobbyists, Americans grasp the reality of a stronger and more prosperous country,” Cortes explains. In Main Street USA, home equity just hit an all-time high, economic growth is faster—and broader—than it has been in years, and small businesses are reporting historic levels of confidence.
As the exchanges closed today, American stocks set a new record for the longest bull market in history. In MarketWatch, Sue Chang reports that “things could get even more awesome for the market as it heads into what may be shaping up to be a very bullish season”—one that “may soon silence all the critics.”
“An illegal immigrant from Mexico stands accused of killing college student Mollie Tibbetts and dumping her body in an Iowa cornfield,” Nicole Darrah reports for Fox News. “Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 24, was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday in Tibbetts' death.”
“Under the Obama administration, coal was under attack. The so-called Clean Power Plan would have cost energy workers their jobs and raised energy bills for hardworking families,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) writes in USA Today. “Now, the Trump administration is taking important action to remove that broken plan.”
Today, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross attended a ribbon cutting in Hawesville, Kentucky, for the first of three aluminum production lines being restarted as a result of President Trump’s commitment to American strength. “No country that is serious about protecting its national security should allow its aluminum industry to be eroded,” Secretary Ross writes in the Ferdinand News and Spencer County Leader.
In LifeZette, Mark Tapscott breaks down five heinous acts committed recently by criminals who’ve been residing illegally in the United States. “Why are liberal mainstream media figures afraid to tell Americans all the facts about who enters our country?” Tapscott asks.
