President Trump signs law that delivers for American workers
President Trump has made closing the skills gap a top priority. Today, he will sign the Perkins CTE Act into law, which provides crucial funding toward training programs for American students and workers.
Perkins CTE provides more than $1 billion each year to states for vocational and career-focused education programs. These programs, tailored toward secondary and post-secondary students, will help employers fill the high-skill jobs of tomorrow. This funding is key: 94% of high school students participate in Career and Technical Education courses and programs in some form.
Congress achieved a major bipartisan win last week when both parties came together to pass this bill after years of stalled efforts. The White House, led by Ivanka Trump, brought a renewed focus to modernizing the program. “Manufacturers are encouraged to have partners in the White House like the president and Ivanka Trump who are laser-focused on worker training,” National Association of Manufacturers President Jay Timmons said.

World leader: President ‘is a great negotiator’
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte visited Washington yesterday, meeting with President Trump to discuss terrorism, trade, migration, and the importance of reinvesting in NATO.
“Both the Prime Minister and I are focused on the urgent need to protect our nations from terrorism and uncontrolled migration,” President Trump said. “Like the United States, Italy is currently under enormous strain as a result of illegal immigration. . . . The Prime Minister and I are united in our conviction that strong nations must have strong borders.”
The bottom line, summed up by Prime Minister Conte: “You have a President who is a strong supporter and advocate of the interests of the American people and the American country. He's a great negotiator.”
