We’ve already heard from dozens of people whose SNAP benefits were stolen in states across the country. Cassandra Garibay, ProPublica Engagement Reporter One woman told us she had to pause her utility payments in order to eat the month she was stolen from. Others turned to food banks and friends or stretched what little food they had. We know this issue has affected millions of Americans. And we need your help to reach as many people as possible to reveal the true scope of the problem. Here are a couple of ways you can help us push this reporting forward: If you use SNAP and think your benefits have been stolen at any point, you can fill out our brief form here. We read through every response and may follow up for more details. If you don’t have SNAP benefits, you can still participate.
