WATCH: It’s Christmas season at the White House!

“The Spirit of America” is shining in the White House, First Lady Melania Trump announced on Twitter yesterday, unveiling the 2019 White House Christmas decorations.

The First Family is celebrating their third Christmas in the White House. This year’s theme is a tribute to the traditions, customs, and history that make America great. Handpicked by the First Lady herself, the 2019 White House decorations celebrate the courageous individuals who have shaped our country and kept the American spirit alive:
  • Upon entering the East Wing, visitors first see the cherished Gold Star Family Tree, proudly decorated by the Gold Star families of our great American military.

  • In the East Room, four star-spangled trees stand tall, glimmering with stars and cascading ribbons. Features of the American flag are proudly incorporated.

  • The State Dining room celebrates “America, the beautiful,” honoring landmarks from across our country—including the Golden Gate Bridge, Space Needle, Mount Rushmore, the Alamo, Gateway Arch, Liberty Bell, and Statue of Liberty.

  • Ending in the Grand Foyer and Cross Hall, guests find themselves in a glistening winter garden filled with 22 evergreens, 14 golden magnolia topiaries, 10 floral urns, and dusted with fresh-fallen snow.
I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the #Christmas season!” the First Lady tweeted.

President Trump surprises troops in Afghanistan!

President Donald J. Trump left Washington to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with his family last Tuesday. Little did most Americans know that the Commander-in-Chief had another plan in mind—one that required a high level of secrecy to pull off safely.

Just ahead of the holiday, the President flew overnight for a surprise visit to see American soldiers who were unable to spend Thanksgiving with their families.

On Thursday, President Trump surprised the world when he arrived at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. With Thanksgiving meals in hand, he let our troops know just how grateful the American people are for their service.

“There’s nowhere I’d rather celebrate this Thanksgiving than right here with the toughest, strongest, best, and bravest warriors on the face of the Earth,” he said.

During the holiday season, we are especially reminded of the sacrifices that the men and women in our armed forces make. “We flew 8,331 miles to be here tonight for one simple reason: to tell you, in person, that this Thanksgiving is a special Thanksgiving,” the President said.

“You are very special people. And you don’t even know how much the people of our country love and respect you . . . It’s why I’m here. I’m just bringing the message.”
