WEF Davos 2018 LIVE UPDATES: Artificial distinction made between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ terrorist is equally dangerous, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently delivering a keynote address at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting. Later in the day, the prime minister will also interact with the members of international business community of the WEF. Narendra Modi is the first Indian prime minister to attend Davos summit in 20 years.
PM Modi, who arrived in Davos on Monday evening, told top Chief Executive Officers that India means business and offers an exciting opportunity for global businesses. At a roundtable dinner meeting on the sidelines of the WEF gathering on Monday, Modi spoke at length about India’s growth story.

4.50 pm: PM Modi concludes his address at WEF while calling on international community to invest in India.
4.46 pm: Let us create a ‘heaven of freedom’, where there is cooperation and not division, fractures, says PM Modi.
4.45 pm: In India democracy, demography and dynamism are giving shape to development and destiny: PM Modi
4.40 pm: India has been one of the biggest contributors to UN peacekeeping missions: PM Modi.
4.38 pm: In 2014, Indian voters provided complete majority to any political party to form govt at the centre after 30 years. We took the resolution for the development of everyone and not just a specific group. Our motto is ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’: PM Modi
4.35 pm: Stating that India is proud of its democracy and diversity, PM Modi said, “For a society with diverse religions, cultures, languages, attires and cuisines, democracy is not just a political system but a way of living.”
4.32 pm: Many societies and countries are becoming self-centred. It seems that gloabalisation, as opposed to its definition, is shrinking. Such misplaced preferences can’t be considered any lesser threat than terrorism or climate change. We must admit that the shine of globalisation is fading: PM Modi
4.28 pm: PM Modi also emphasised on the importance of renewable energy.
4.25 pm: Terrorism is dangerous. There must be no distinction on the lines of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ terrorism: PM Modi
4.18 pm: PM Modi also delved on the crucial topic of climate change and said, “Climate change is huge threat right now, Snow in the Arctic is melting, many islands are sinking or are about to sink.” Acknowleding that Climate change and terrorism are grave concerns before the world, Modi said everyone is aware of India’s position on menace of terrorism. He also said the care towards the environment is a part of India’s culture.
4.15 pm: Invoking ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (entire world is one family), PM Modi said India has always believed in values of integration and unity. “It is relevant to bridge distances,” Modi adds.
4.10 pm: Stressing on the role of technology, PM Modi said technology is assuming importance in this era and that it is deeply influencing the way we behave, politics and various aspects of our life
