Publicación: Philippines - Climate and Health Vulnerability Assessment
https://openknowledge.worldbank.org/entities/publication/85c8ea85-66f1-4835-8f19-982d2d58036d
This report assesses climate-related health vulnerabilities in the Philippines, one of the world’s most climate-exposed countries. Rising temperatures, extreme humid heat, stronger tropical cyclones, heavier rainfall, and sea-level rise are expected to intensify existing health risks and place greater pressure on the health system. Key climate-sensitive health concerns include cardiovascular disease, dengue, malnutrition, diarrhea, malaria, respiratory illness, and heat-related conditions. Dengue is projected to become a major source of additional climate-attributable disease burden, while food-system disruptions could worsen child malnutrition. The assessment highlights the disproportionate risks faced by children, older adults, pregnant women, and rural poor populations and underscores the need to strengthen health-system resilience, disease surveillance, and climate adaptation measures.
