The challenge is nolonger understanding why a systems approach is needed, but how to operationalize it throughstronger analytical tools, institutional capacities and coordination mechanisms that support policycoherence across sectors and stakeholders.In response to the growing demand for guidance on operationalizing a systems approach, thishandbook provides policymakers with the tools and methods needed to improve the design andimplementation of agrifood systems policies. Drawing on FAO’s seminal publication TransformingFood and Agriculture through a Systems Approach, the handbook, in the form of training modules, aims to strengthen policymakers’ capacities to improve policy coherence, mobilize innovation and investment, and accelerate agrifood systems transformation.
