Poverty is not a personal failure. It is a systemic failure. A denial of dignity and human rights. Families in poverty often endure intrusive surveillance, burdensome eligibility checks and systems that judge, not support. Single mothers, Indigenous households, marginalized groups face increased scrutiny, suspicion and separation. Over 690 million people live in extreme poverty.
