Israel vs. Houthis: Attack bear’s claw or the bear itself?
The recent Houthi attack on Tel Aviv and Israel’s retaliatory attack on Yemen could bring further conflict but a hostage deal might cool things down.

When a Houthi drone exploded in Tel Aviv last Friday night, killing a man who was asleep in his bed and wounding 8 others, it was a clear escalation of the one-way conflict the Yemenite force has been raging against Israel since the Gaza war broke out on October 7.
The drone traveled for 10 hours on a 2,600 km journey towards Israel, and only in the last 6 minutes was it noticed by Israeli army intelligence. Noticed, but ignored, except by a Russian woman on the beach who heard the drone, picked up her phone and shot video as it passed overhead and launched its unexpected attack seconds later.
Israel’s response came fast and furious the following day with a massive attack on the strategic port of Hodeida in Yemen.
The question now, is what comes next in this new and unforeseen conflict? ISRAEL21c spoke to an expert to find out.
Also included this week is an article we wrote earlier this year explaining who the Houthis are, and why we are now engaged in this deadly dance with them. And yes, it all leads back to Iran.
