Obamacare Forgot About You. But President Trump Didn’t.

“For all the discussion of Obamacare since its passage, it is too rarely known that the law effectively split the United States’ individual insurance market in two,” Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar writes in The Washington Post. The two groups: subsidized and unsubsidized customers.

 “Obamacare has forced unsubsidized Americans to choose between unaffordable insurance and no insurance at all . . . This administration isn’t shutting out the law’s forgotten Americans. Instead, we’re finally giving them affordable choices.”

“President Trump’s push to build on the nation’s financial recovery has won solid support from Americans,” Paul Bedard reports for the Washington Examiner. According to a new Gallup survey, President Trump “has averaged a 48 percent approval rating for handling the economy thus far in office, which exceeds the combined average 45 percent economic approval for his five immediate predecessors.”

In The Daily Signal, Fred Lucas writes that 100 manufacturers have already boosted hiring, expanded, or increased pay thanks to President Trump’s tax cuts and reform. “Although no Democrats in the House or Senate voted in favor of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, it seems to be benefiting blue states as well as red states,” he adds.

The Oklahoman editorial board says that the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act signed by President Trump “is a winner for current military members because it includes a 2.6 percent pay raise, which would be the largest in nine years.”

In The Washington Times, Matt Mackowiak writes that Democrats are making “absurd transparency criticisms” over Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process for the Supreme Court. “The record will show that Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, is leading the most transparent confirmation process of all time,” he explains.
