The head of Radio Free Europe/Radio Free Liberty, Stephen Capus, told DW it is unlawful for the Trump administration to cancel funding for the broadcaster, as the money had been appropriated by Congress.

The European Union has warned that Donald Trump's cuts to various US funded media companies would risk "benefitting our common adversaries." Broadcasters such as Radio Free Europe and Voice of America had their US funding cut and are now being gutted of staff.
