Potential coronavirus vaccine reaches significant milestone in trial, Biotech company Moderna announces

Biotech company Moderna announced on Monday that its potential COVID-19 vaccine produced antibodies in all 45 participants in a trial, a significant milestone in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. 

Moderna’s announcement came as Biotech CytoDyn announced it is eyeing a trial for its potential coronavirus treatment leronlimab in combination with the antiviral remdesivir. Leronlimab is a viral-entry inhibitor that has targeted HIV and breast cancer and has been attracting attention as a potential coronavirus treatment.

Meanwhile, a U.K. trial to develop a coronavirus vaccine, if successful, could deliver 30 million doses by September, British Business Secretary Alok Sharma said during a press conference Sunday.

The European Union and other countries on Monday called for an independent evaluation of the World Health Organization’s response to the coronavirus pandemic “to review experience gained and lessons learned.” The WHO has been heavily criticized for allegedly downplaying China’s role in the start of the pandemic.

A senior medical adviser in China acknowledged the country initially underreported the number of infections in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak and described a potential second wave as a "big challenge," according to Reuters. Three Republican members of Congress are pushing the Trump administration to sanction individual Chinese government officials over what they call their "duplicitous, ineffective, and cruel response" to the coronavirus outbreak, Fox News has learned exclusively.

Disney World has issued a couple of disclaimers for guests planning to visit Disney Springs when it begins its phased reopening on May 20, one of which appears to indicate that Disney Parks is absolved of all liability for anyone infected with coronavirus during their trip.
