In the late morning heat above the quays of the Port of Djibouti, a trainee settles into the crane cab. Sunlight shimmers across the water. Below, dockworkers signal, and a container inches into place. Inside the cab, the trainee’s hands are steady - weeks of classroom modules, simulator drills, and supervised lifts have led to this moment. When the container lands and the spreader unlocks, the team on the ground smiles. For one young operator, it’s one more successful lift.
