The World Bank Group’s investment through IFC is reshaping the retail grocery market, creating jobs, and meeting consumers’ growing demand for food safety in the country. On a busy street in Ho Chi Minh City, a glass door chimes as Truong Thi Thu Thoa steps into a convenience store. But this isn’t just any corner shop—and Thoa is not just any customer. She is an Operations Manager at GS25 Vietnam, a popular Korean convenience store brand operated in partnership with SonKim Retail, overseeing 91 outlets of a fast-growing retail chain offering fresh food, noodle bowls, and aisles of snacks.
