In Nepal, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities are at the helm of forests conservation, leveraging traditional knowledge and community-based management. They share a symbiotic relationship with forests since generations, nurturing the forests and vice versa. However, this relationship is at risk due to the multifold effects of climate change. Moreover, the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities face challenges in inclusion and equitable access to resources. World Bank initiatives like the Dedicated Grant Mechanism and Enabling Access to Benefit while Lowering Emissions support these communities, enhancing their participation, knowledge, and capacity in forest management and climate action.
