Forced Child Marriage in Yemen: An Update

hsi-email-logo-2013.jpg

Dear Victor,

The government of Yemen has recently taken an important step in the fight to end Forced Child Marriage -- and it wouldn't have been possible without you and others like you that have taken action on this issue in recent months.

The Yemeni government recently announced that the new constitution will set the minimum age for marriage at 18.1 Although the constitution is far from perfect and has yet to be approved by other political actors within Yemen, this is an important building block in the effort to end Forced Child Marriage.

While the people of Yemen continue to suffer as a result of a violent civil war, this is a welcome milestone brought about by international and local activist pressure in recent months, including people like you.

Will you continue to be a powerful advocate for Yemeni children, and encourage others to support an end to Forced Child Marriage?

Ending Forced Child Marriage is no easy feat, but the situation in Yemen shows we're making progress. If more people join now, it really helps our chances of getting this campaign over the line.

In solidarity,

Will you join me in advocating for the end of child marriage in Yemen by adding your name too?
